The Museum Tavern dates back to 1723 and was originally called the Dog and Duck. It changed its name to The Museum Tavern when the British Museum was built in 1759 and the original Victorian bar fittings and gas lanterns remain to this day. Noted luminaries who have frequented the pub including Karl Marx, JB Priestley and Arthur Conan Doyle who included us in his book ‘The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle’.
